My name is Dylan Macalinao. I started Blue Jay Way as a child’s perspective of the Beatles in 2011. The website, http://www.simplybeatles.com, has had many changes. I plan to make this the final installment. My fandom of the Beatles began in December 2010 when I saw the spectacular Cirque de Soliel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Before hearing all of the Love album’s songs, I pretty much only had heard one song I knew was by the Beatles. “Yellow Submarine”. Yes, I sang karaoke to the Beatles’ classic, “We all live in a Yellow Submarine!”
As anyone would feel after hearing the genius of the Beatles, I started looking up all of their songs. I even looked up their movies on YouTube. Magical Mystery Tour, Help!, Let It Be, A Hard Day’s Night, and, of course, Yellow Submarine. Another contribution to my knowledge of Beatles songs is The Beatles Rockband for PS3. With that video game I learned about “Dear Prudence”, “I Am the Walrus”, “Come Together”, “The End”, “Here Comes the Sun”, “Something”, etc. I realized songs that I’ve listened to before are actually Beatles tunes. The beach boogie song, “Twist and Shout”, the birthday songs, “When I’m Sixty-four” and “Birthday”, “Yesterday”, “Let It Be”. All of this great music was suddenly poured into my ears.
How about the name? Blue Jay Way. Blue Jay Way is the name of one of my favorite songs by the Beatles. I first listened to the song while watching an excerpt from Magical Mystery Tour. The psychedelic vibe from the song is amazing.
I do, however, enjoy other music. I love Pink Floyd, especially Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. Queen is another great band. Keeping with the British rock theme, I also love the Who. My favorite songs by the Who are “Baba O’Riley” and “Behind Blue Eyes” which are both featured on the album, Who’s Next?
I hope you enjoy reading all about the Beatles from a twelve-year-old’s perspective. Thank you for visiting my blog.
